A Woman Calls 911 to Say Armed Intruders Are Inside Her Shirley Street Home, Then Hangs Up as Buffalo Police Race In

Buffalo police flooded 39 Shirley after a caller reported a window broken and gunmen inside her house, with officers soon chasing a Jeep that took off north on Bailey.

Yesterday at 10:22 PM, a Buffalo officer called out an available E District car for a gun call, and dispatch laid out the chilling sequence over the air: a woman at 39 Shirley first called in reporting someone had broken a window to her house, then “last call stated that they're now inside the house with guns”. She would not give 911 any further information before she hung up.

As cars converged, the investigation pointed toward a suspect dispatch placed at 324 Shirley, and within minutes officers on scene flagged a vehicle on the move: “Car just took off going northbound on Bailey from Shirley. Looks like it's a Jeep”. Units cleared the Jeep north on Bailey from Shirley and worked to pin down a plate as the showup unfolded a few blocks away.

A Mother Says Her Children Were Robbed at Gunpoint in a M Hotel Room, and Within Minutes a Brawl Erupts on the Seventh Floor

Cheektowaga police sent car after car to the M Hotel at 2040 Walden overnight, starting with a gunpoint robbery of a family's room and spiraling into an active fight and a report of someone armed on the premises.

Early this morning at 4:08 AM, Cheektowaga dispatch sent a car to the M Hotel at 2040 Walden, up to Room 714, after a mother called to report that about twenty minutes earlier her room and her children “were robbed at gunpoint by known teenagers”. The teenagers were no longer on scene, and dispatch noted the caller was uncooperative and had stopped answering questions — officers later learned the suspects were not even staying at the hotel.

The run did not stay quiet. By 4:12 AM, the lead officer radioed that “they're actively fighting on the 7-4 right now, if we can get another car or two, they said there's a bunch of people”, and dispatch pushed additional cars up to the seventh floor. Moments later the front desk reported a person with a firearm on the premises, and units from across the department converged on the building before an officer finally called it all comm up on the seventh floor.

A School Tip Line Sends Deputies Rushing to a Jamestown Address Overnight on a Report of a Student Held at Gunpoint

Chautauqua County deputies were sent to 1756 Warren Jamestown Boulevard after a school tip line, and then the superintendent, relayed one child's email that another student was in immediate danger.

Just after midnight, at 12:03 AM, Chautauqua County dispatch directed units to 1756 Warren Jamestown Boulevard after what the dispatcher described as a call from a school tip line reporting that a person was allegedly “being held in a room at gunpoint and knife point”. Dispatch said it was working to pull more information while sending a second car.

Minutes later the account firmed up from an unexpected source. Dispatch told the responding cars it had also heard from the superintendent, who advised she had received a notification “saying she was in immediate danger at that 1756 W.J. Boulevard”, all of it tracing back to one child emailing another student. Deputies worked their way toward the address as officers tried to confirm exactly who, and what, was inside.

A Working Structure Fire on the Cheektowaga-Southline Line Pulls Mutual Aid, Multiple Ladders and a Roof Crew Into an Hours-Long Battle

Cheektowaga Fire fought a working structure fire that ran more than an hour, with command shutting off gas and electric, calling in mutual-aid engines, and sending crews to cool and ventilate a stubborn roof.

Yesterday afternoon, Cheektowaga Fire was deep into a working structure fire, with command methodically securing the building: “all the electric is off to the building”, then relaying that the gas was off as well. A mutual-aid officer radioed that he had two engines standing by and a full crew for the ladder, though command declined the extra engines at that point.

By 4:20 PM, command was told it was “one hour” into the incident, and the fight had turned stubborn. Crews cooling the roof reported they were “not actually making any progress to the building up there”, and sector officers began weighing whether to ventilate the Delta-side wall from a bucket rather than put firefighters on the roof itself. The job, running alongside a string of other Cheektowaga fire calls through the evening, kept ladders and mutual-aid companies committed for hours.

He is conscious at this time”, with the car found at the intersection of Maple Avenue and 242 resting on its roof. Dispatch checked the weather and, with a man confirmed pinned, placed Mercy Flight on standby while crews worked the extrication.

Oh, jeez, how much was her bill?”, one asked. The answer: “$384 and for it she got stuck in the hurricane”. For three extra weeks marooned by a hurricane, the driver seemed to decide, that was downright reasonable — and the radio moved on to Monday's expected crush.

Editor’s Note

An overnight that burned hot in more ways than one: multiple working structure fires chewed through Cheektowaga — Heim Road, the Southline job, a 960 French Road commercial blaze with acetone and propane hazards — while a mutual-aid structure fire pulled companies toward the East Seneca Fire Hall in the Southtowns. Buffalo's East Side carried its own grim run, with shots fired on Niagara and Michigan streets and an armed home invasion on Shirley Street that ended with suspects fleeing by vehicle. In Chautauqua County, a school tip line touched off a tense overnight report of a student held at gunpoint, and far out in Cattaraugus a single-vehicle rollover trapped a man in a Machias embankment with Mercy Flight placed on standby. Beneath it all ran the usual steady hum of falls, overdoses, and alarm activations region-wide.
