Officers converged on the Courtyard Marriott early this morning after a caller from Niagara County said her husband had threatened to shoot himself and might have a shotgun with him.

At about 1:01 AM, a Cheektowaga police dispatcher rerouted units to the Courtyard Marriott, 4243 Genesee, for a report from a fourth-floor caller that her husband might be in the parking lot near his silver Chevy Silverado, according to the radio traffic. The dispatcher said the man “would shoot himself” if the complainant called 911, adding that “the sub has access to a shotgun” and may have taken it with him. The situation was said to have started over an argument on the phone.

Dispatch asked for multiple cars at once and sent additional cover units north on Genesee, telling one officer to “head that way until we know what we've got” A supervisor pressed for the exact location of the Silverado in the lot, but the caller — reached back on the phone — had no idea where it would be, and dispatch noted she was calling from Niagara County. The traffic did not state how the standoff was resolved or whether anyone was taken into custody.

By about 7:29 PM an officer radioed that he would be transporting the party to his mother's house, indicating the man had been safely brought down. The traffic did not detail the circumstances that put him on the overpass.
