Moments later dispatch relayed that a male party named Daniel was walking toward a nearby Tim Hortons and that the complainant said he had a pocket knife in his possession.

Units tried to keep the parties in view as one subject was reported leaving on a motorcycle and another was said to be in the Tim Hortons parking lot; officers pressed for a clothing description, asking whether a subject was in a dark sweatshirt. By about 1:42 PM units were clearing the scene. The traffic did not state whether anyone was taken into custody or injured.

An engine and a ladder rolled to a West Side address this morning after a report that a man had been hit in the head with an axe.

At about 8:07 AM, Buffalo fire dispatch sent EMS to 45 Newton, between Hilton and Curtis, for a man reported struck in the head with an axe, according to the radio traffic. Engine 22 and Ladder 5 were assigned to the call.

The traffic gave no further detail on the man's condition, the circumstances of the injury, or whether anyone was taken into custody.

Amherst crews pulled a two-and-a-half-inch line on a car fire that had swallowed a detached garage this afternoon, knocking it down before it spread to an exposure.

At about 1:42 PM, Amherst fire dispatch put out a report of a car fire in a garage at 110 Roycroft Boulevard, between Main Street and Kings Highway, according to the radio traffic. An early-arriving chief reported the car was on fire and, moments later, a fully involved detached garage with an exposure threatened on the number four side.

Crews established a water supply and stretched a two-and-a-half-inch line, with the operation switched to a tactical channel and a hydrant hit near the 97–101 block on the west side of the street. By about 1:52 PM a company reported “the fire is knocked down”, with crews pulling a second line as a precaution. The traffic did not indicate any injuries.

Semi-Truck Brings Down Lines on Sunset as Crews Stage for a Driver Still Inside

A tractor-trailer snagged telephone lines this afternoon with its driver reported still in the cab, drawing fire crews and a police request to pop a door — even as a second wreck with entrapment broke out minutes away.

At about 1:43 PM, Orchard Park fire control sent crews for a semi with wires down on top of it on Sunset, near North Buffalo, with the driver reported still inside, according to the radio traffic. Police on scene requested a door pop on one vehicle, and dispatch notified the utility.

Crews soon confirmed the downed lines were telephone rather than power, and a chief radioed that the truck was in the road but that no additional resources were needed beyond police to block it off — “I got telephone 9 here, truck is in the road, I don't know if you have anybody, PD to come and block this off, but I'm not gonna need any additional resources here”. The scene overlapped a second call minutes later, a motor vehicle accident with extrication at Milestrip and California, pulling units in two directions. The traffic did not detail any injuries on Sunset.

Amherst police tracked a black Jeep headed east on Maple this afternoon after a caller said a small child fell during a domestic dispute.

At about 12:39 PM, an Amherst police dispatcher relayed that a family involved in a domestic incident had left the area heading east on Maple, in a black Jeep Cherokee, according to the radio traffic. The caller believed a two- or three-year-old had fallen down the stairs during the dispute, and the family was reported headed to Suburban hospital.

An officer radioed that he would cover the call, telling dispatch, “If that's the case, I'll cover” The traffic did not state the child's condition.

Woodhaven Resident Wires More Than $100,000 to an Overseas Investment Scam

An Amherst fraud complaint this afternoon laid out a familiar and costly pattern: a victim already out six figures to a scheme routed to Uganda.

At about 12:01 PM, an Amherst police dispatcher logged a fraud complaint at 327 Ruskin, in the Woodhaven area, according to the radio traffic. The dispatcher reported that the victim had already wired more than $100,000 to an investment scam in Uganda.

An officer was assigned to take the report. The traffic did not indicate whether any of the money could be recovered.

Four Vehicles Tangle on the I-190 Near Staley Road, Minutes After an Earlier Crash Nearby

A morning wreck on the Grand Island stretch of the I-190 grew from three cars to four, leaving crews working the shoulder while most drivers waved off treatment.

At about 9:06 AM, Grand Island fire dispatch toned a hot EMS response to I-190 southbound near mile marker 15.7, at Staley Road, for what came in as a three-car crash with injuries, according to the radio traffic. The call came from Irv's, and multiple units were assigned.

By about 9:16 AM crews on scene revised the count upward: “Looks like it's going to be four cars, we have three refusing evaluation and one that we'll be evaluating” Units advised they would be working the right-hand shoulder, and responders were routed on at Whitehaven. The traffic gave no serious injuries.

A Grand Island caller needed police and the sheriff for traffic — because there was a horse galloping down the middle of the road.

At about 11:45 AM, a Grand Island fire officer keyed up from 1935 Bush with a request you don't hear every day: “I've got a horse running down the middle of the road, could you give me GIPD and Sheriff's for traffic to this area” — could dispatch send police and the sheriff for traffic control.

The chase was on. Dispatch was advised the homeowner had just pulled up and was “currently chasing them through backyards to Fairview now.” Barely seven minutes later, the runaway was corralled and secured, and units returned to station — the horse, per the digest, uninjured and presumably unimpressed.

The unit on the other end took it in stride. “That's clear. Upgrade them to HOT.”

Dispatch confirmed it — the field would be left in the care of 92 — and the chief was on his way to 110 Roycroft, where heavy smoke was already showing.

Just after 2:18 PM, Buffalo Fire dispatch called a Level 2 response for an elevator entrapment at 1290 Delaware Avenue, between Auburn Avenue and Lancaster Avenue, reporting one person trapped on the seventh floor and sending Engine 19, Ladder 6, Rescue 1 and battalion-chief coverage.

Truck and ladder crews reported arriving on the seventh floor within a few minutes, and no further transmissions described injury or continued distress, suggesting the entrapment was resolved without incident.

Randolph Woman, 89, Rushed for Possible Stroke as Dispatch Scrambles for Closer Mercy Flight

At 8:32 AM, Cattaraugus County fire dispatch sent Randolph EMS on an ALS stroke call to 3060 Chubb Road, between Torrance Road and Bowen Road, for an 89-year-old woman reported with facial droop who was unable to speak or use her left arm, with the onset given as roughly five minutes earlier.

Randolph's ambulance was en route within minutes, and dispatch checked with Mercy Flight, reporting the “closest aircraft is 32 minutes” while looking to see if anything closer was available.
