Amherst · Maple Road · Gunpoint Threat

Student Threatened at Gunpoint by Gray Infiniti Driver Near the Maple Road Movie Theater

A UB caller said she was menaced with a gun outside the theater; the same plate surfaced minutes later on a Sweet Home Road road-rage call.

Yesterday at 9:13 PM, a UB Campus PD dispatcher was on the phone with a caller who said she was being threatened with a gun, first placing the confrontation at 101 Hadley and then, as the location was chased down, “They're actually at 4276 Maple Road outside the movie theater” — 4276 Maple Road, outside the movie theater. The suspect was driving away in a gray four-door sedan, later identified on the air as a gray Infiniti bearing New York plate GRN 4352.

Officers ran a direction-of-travel search as the caller's vehicle — a gray Nissan Altima — trailed the scene, and UB dispatch called in Amherst police for help, tracking the suspect toward Sweet Home Road. A dispatcher noted the encounter had actually occurred at Hadley Village roughly 15 to 20 minutes earlier. By the close of the window a student had been identified and a report was pending; the suspect vehicle was not located passing southbound on Sweet Home.

Firearm Pointed in Sweet Home Road Road-Rage Call — Same Plate as the UB Gunpoint Threat

An Amherst complainant said a driver in a silver Infiniti aimed a gun at him; the plate matched the one logged by campus police minutes away.

Yesterday at 9:19 PM, Amherst dispatch relayed a road-rage complaint in which, as a dispatcher put it, “It was a Silver Infinity pointed firearm at the complainant” pointed at the complainant along Sweet Home Road, with the driver's direction of travel unknown. The plate given for the vehicle — George Robert Nancy 4352 — matches the New York plate GRN 4352 that UB Campus PD logged minutes earlier on the gunpoint threat at the Maple Road movie theater, and the two calls appear to describe the same driver.

Amherst units worked the area and, a short time later, a car reported it had never seen the vehicle pass southbound on Sweet Home Road. The overlapping plate, timeline and geography strongly suggest a single armed driver moving between the two scenes.

The driver reported she'd 'lost some gas,' said she had 'a half a tank' but 'don't know how many gallons that is,' and mostly knew one thing for certain. “All she knows is that there's a puddle underneath her vehicle. I just need to know if we need to send out fire department” As mysteries go, the puddle-under-the-car case demanded answers before anyone rolled a rig.

Buffalo · Dart Street Fire

RESOLVED

Full Assignment Empties Dart Street House Overnight Before Crews Knock Down Fire

Overnight, at 3:20 AM, Buffalo Fire sent a full assignment on channel 2 to Dart Street[*] between Forest Avenue[*] and Bradley Street for a reported structure fire; first-arriving units found a two-and-a-half story frame house with fire showing from the front and stretched an inch-and-three-quarter attack line.

Crews knocked the fire down on the exterior and pushed inside to finish it off as a chief confirmed on the air that “residents are out of the structure”, while another company flagged a car in the driveway whose occupancy status they “could see but not confirm”.

By 3:28 AM engines reported water on the fire on the first floor with “all fire appears to be out”, and truck crews checking the second floor for extension found “no sign of fire on the second floor, no smoke”, allowing companies to begin backing out.

Overnight Dart Street Fire Leaves $125,000 in Damage, Two Adults Displaced

Command requested a Red Cross response for two adults displaced by the fire.

The response hit a mechanical snag as it wound down — one engine had to be pulled and swapped out at the shop after its crew reported the rig “wouldn't stay in pump”.

Additional cars covered the search as officers worked to locate Smith, and dispatch flagged “a warning for both the residents, the male suspect and the female complainant there” on file at the Garden Road address.

Cheektowaga Airbnb Party Spirals Out of Hand, Guests Frisked at the Door

Overnight, just before 1 AM, Cheektowaga police pulled officers out of roll call after a wave of calls reported an Airbnb party at 90 Aris that had gotten “out of hand, it's very large”, with callers saying “people are being frisked at the door”. Within minutes cars 45 and 43 were on scene, with a third unit responding.

Car 45 radioed that the crowd was large but mostly cooperative, though partygoers were scattering “running through yards” as police worked to clear the property — with no legal grounds to stop anyone, dispatch said the goal was simply getting everyone out. Radio ran a plate on a car blocking the driveway in an attempt to identify who was hosting, tracing it to a woman identified on dispatch as A. McCrayer-Herd, born in 2007, while a separate check worked to track down the property's owner.

Editor’s Note

A brawling, gun-flashing overnight rippled from Amherst to Buffalo: a UB student was threatened at gunpoint by the driver of a gray Infiniti near the Maple Road movie theater, minutes apart from a Sweet Home Road road-rage caller who reported a firearm pointed at him — the same plate turning up on both calls. Two Amherst domestics turned violent within the hour, and downtown Buffalo saw a high-speed convoy of BMWs run from police toward Niagara Square, a reported rape off Roma Lane, and a man found dead on a Massachusetts Avenue third floor. Beneath it all ran the region's usual grind — chest-pain runs, lift assists, fire-alarm churn and minor MVAs from the East Side to the outer counties.
