A 6- and a 12-year-old last seen at dinnertime; a mother woke to an empty apartment and called for help.

Yesterday around 8:39 PM, BPD pulled a couple of cars over to 871 East Ferry, Apartment 301, where a mother reported a 6-year-old and a 12-year-old missing. As dispatch put it on the air, she had been sleeping, woke up, and the two children were gone — last seen around 6:00 PM.

The missing-children call landed in the middle of a busy stretch on the same channel — dispatch was simultaneously tracking a stolen 2021 blue Volvo threading the East Side from Best Street toward the Kensington and out to the Langfield area — and available Charlie cars were peeled off to take the report. No resolution came over the wire before the window closed.

Man Threatens to Jump from the Peace Bridge; Districts Scramble to the Waterfront

Late yesterday afternoon, just before 4:00 PM, BPD pushed units to the Peace Bridge for a suicidal man threatening to jump. A phone was pinging him to the span, and at one point near Connecticut and Prospect; the only description that went out was a white male roughly 6-foot-3.

Multiple district cars were routed toward the bridge approach as dispatch relayed the ping locations. The traffic did not carry a resolution during the window.

An 11-month-old stopped breathing near Sinclairville; the mother didn't wait for the ambulance.

Yesterday just before 7:00 PM, Chautauqua fire dispatch toned an ALS response to 2732 Edson Road near Sinclairville for an 11-month-old who was choking and then not breathing — with County Medic 74 called in to assist. As the call went out, dispatch relayed that the mother was already running toward the fire station with the infant in her arms rather than wait for the medics to reach her.

96-Year-Old's Fall at a Wales Center Trailer Park Draws Mercy Flight

Early this morning, just after 4:00 AM, East Aurora Fire and Hamburg PD ran multiple units to 5079 Rider Road in Wales Center for a 96-year-old woman who had fallen and struck her head. The injury was serious enough that Mercy Flight was launched to meet the ground crews at the scene.

The same lot had drawn an EMS response about ten minutes earlier for a woman reported as a possible stroke — dispatch worked both under the Rider Road address before the helicopter was called in.

Overnight, around 12:33 AM, a caller reported flames and smoke at 243 Sears, between Kent and Broadway on the East Side, and BPD sent Charlie 580 to a fire flyer while crews investigated smoke in the structure on a Level 3 response.

Overnight at 3:30 AM, a woman on Charles Gate Circle called Amherst police looking for advice rather than an arrest: her ex-boyfriend was aboard an Amtrak train from Chicago, due back into town, and she was sure he'd try to make contact once he stepped off. Dispatch ran the name and found the party showing a no-extradition felony warrant out of Ohio — which is to say the police were interested in the incoming train too.
