All-Night Search for a Missing 10-Year-Old Out of 336 Sunridge; Her Phone Pings Off Behind Acacia Park Cemetery and Goes DarkOngoing

At 22:01, Amherst PD took an attempt-to-locate at 336 Sunridge on the right-hand side — the complainant was the grandmother, saying her ten-year-old granddaughter had been missing for two hours. Dispatch put out the description: a young girl with short dark hair, last seen wearing an orange Apex shirt, black shorts, and pink Crocs.[1] The grandmother named the child to police on the air.

Roughly forty minutes in, the case turned electronic. At 22:40, an officer relayed that Verizon had reported the missing girl’s phone was now off and had last pinged “to a power behind a field from the Acacia Park Cemetery, and it was 1.26 miles southeast of the power.”[2] A new ping order was placed against the device in case it powered back on.

The investigation widened across the night. A possibly-related hit-and-run with an Ontario plate (Charles-Adam-King-Henry 008) and significant passenger-side damage was logged in the same neighborhood at 22:17, around the corner at 194 Sunset.[3][4] By 23:10, units were still set, the phone was still showing off, and officers were trading position updates on Sunridge.[5] Just before 01:00, the search had spread to Sweet Home and Pheasant Run, the Bear Haven area, and the East/West Somerset stretch off Florence — the last spot the phone had been hitting.[6][7] The traffic stayed live into the early-morning hours; no resolution had crossed the air by the 07:00 cutoff.

Late-Night Domestic on the Amherst–Sunridge Side: “The Female Complainant Just Located Another Long Gun in the House”

At 00:09, an Amherst PD unit came back over the air on what was described as “an earlier domestic”: “The female complainant just located another long gun in the house.”[8] Minutes later, officers noted, “Looks like that first call is going to be related to this one,” stringing the night’s prior call together with the new firearm find.[9]

By 00:43, a flagged subject identified on dispatch as Keith Thomas was back on the location “trying to get in,” and dispatch noted charges were already in hand.[10] At 00:44, a unit put it plainly on the air: “It sounds like the male and female are physically fighting.”[11] An officer caution followed at 00:44:47: “The subject in question may be in possession of a pocket knife.”[12] Containment cars were sent to Cascade and Grandview, then Sweet Home and Pheasant Run[13] — the same corridor the missing-child search was crawling that hour, though the call threads are not on their face the same call.

Transportation Bus Backs Into a Pole at Williamsville South; Bus Empty, No Injuries

At 17:03, Amherst PD took a school-bus PDO at Williamsville South High School. An officer cleaned it up on the air a few seconds later: “It’s just a transportation bus backed into a pole. Nobody’s on the bus.”[14] No injuries, no extrication — a paperwork call.

Parking-Lot Fight Spills Out at the Dollar Tree; Two Separated, “Still Heated”

At 17:21, units were sent to a parking-lot fight: “Out in the parking lot physically fighting,”[15] with a description of “a black male, bald, with a purple shirt, and a black female, shorter hair and a white shirt” a moment later.[16] The female was last seen “walking back towards the Dollar Tree”[17] before an arriving car (Lincoln-King-Edward 3722) reported the parties separated, “but still heated.”[18]

Larceny-From-Vehicle in the Darwin Drive Area: White Ford Explorer Leaves Toward Main Street; Officer Calls a Hook

The afternoon’s first big property call hit Amherst PD at 15:06: “Larceny from a vehicle just occurred — white Ford Explorer left toward Main Street.”[19][20] An officer requested a tow (“I’ll need a hook”) and stood by in the driveway of the address while units sealed up Darwin.[21]

Smoke-Detector Activation at 2402 North Forest Empties Out the Building; Crews Find a Faulty Head

Amherst Fire dispatched Ellicott Creek at 00:27 to 2402 North Forest Road, near John Muir Drive in the John James Audubon area, for a floor-2 west smoke-detector activation.[22][23] By 00:33, Engine 9-3 was on location with the building being evacuated.[24] The cause turned out to be the detector itself: dispatch closed it out with “Same issue as before — a faulty head. They will be on fire watch.”[25]

Ellicott Creek Runs to the Same Bureau Veritas Alarm Twice; Both Times It’s Nothing

At 22:54, Amherst Fire pushed Ellicott Creek to a fire-alarm activation at 100 North Point Parkway — the Bureau Veritas building between North French Road and Sweet Home Road — with a smoke-detector activation noted.[26][27] Three minutes after the trucks turned out, the keyholder from an earlier run called it in as a false alarm.[28] Engine 1 still made the location to verify.[29]

Single-Car Crash With Two Patients, Driver Reported On the Roof

At 01:03, Amherst Fire dispatch reported a single car into a structure, with two patients on scene and the driver flagged as on top of the vehicle (the transcribed phrasing is “on retops” — appears to be the radio call for a vehicle on its roof).[30] A clean address did not come up on the dispatch channel in this window’s scanner export.

Overheard: The Wires Tier 4 — what makes the brief the brief →

“Radar Contact, Turn Left, Direct BEARS”

At 06:05:55, an inbound aircraft on BNIA Arrival–Departure caught the day’s best out-of-context line from approach control: “Radar contact, turn left direct BEARS.”[31] BEARS is a published navigation fix on approach to Buffalo — in the cockpit it’s an instrument; on the page, it’s an upstate haiku.

Sunday Night FRS, Channel 15: Two Hams Browse Antennas, Schedule the Saturday, Spit on Themselves

From 18:53 on, FRS Channel 15 hosted what is, on close reading, an entire Sunday-evening ham-radio chat session. The thread: a fresh-ordered N9TAC portable antenna (“it’s like a portable one that you can throw it up in a tree”), a J-4 hand-held, an upcoming Saturday meetup on 11 July (“Be anyone that’s licensed, we welcome you”), shop-talk about working at Edwards Vacuum, and the line of the night: “Oh, I’m spitting all over myself.”[32][33][34]

Ken-Ton Schools Bus Channel, Mic Hot: “She Can Taste the Cows”

At 15:46, a Ken-Ton USD bus channel coughed up four words with no context and no follow-up: “She can taste the cows.”[35] File under: things only said on a school bus.

Amherst PD Sign-Off, 16:07: “Ciao, Paul.”

A small bit of human texture from the afternoon: an Amherst officer ended a transmission with “Ciao, Paul,”[36] the kind of off-script send-off that drops into a working channel and reminds you everyone on it knows everyone else by first name.

Two Cars Tour the Day: Sharp Bus, Holland Speedway, One Word Each

Two outlier channels emitted exactly one transmission apiece in the sixteen-hour window. At 15:18, the Canadian Transport trunk caught a SharpBusLine driver saying “Back to school”[37] — in June. And at 06:25 this morning the lone Sports Venues hit was Holland Speedway with a single, philosophical “Okay.”[38]

Buffalo Limo Dispatcher Improvises a Driving Tutorial

Buffalo Limo’s afternoon dispatcher spent half a minute walking a driver through a route turn-by-turn, off the script: “You turn right on H3 Drive… you go make your right on Arlington… entry drive road for all transit pass French — you gotta pass August Drive, the next one tutorial entry drive…”[39][40] The driver, audibly lost, said “Thank you,” twice.

Wende Correctional, 18:27: “We Want Your Convenience.”

The single Wende Correctional transmission of the night, late-shift: “We want your convenience.”[41] The sentence is more menacing than the source likely intended.

Lockport Commercial Fire Alarm at Neely Industries, Upper Mountain Road

At 15:43, Niagara County dispatch put the City of Lockport on a Zone-128 commercial fire alarm and tunnel/stack detector Zone 10 at 350 Upper Mountain Road at Neely Industries.[42][43] Incident moved to LSD TAC-1.

Car–Bus MVA on Akron Road in Niagara County: ALS Dispatched

At 15:53, Niagara County FD Dispatch took a car-versus-school-bus motor vehicle accident at 8212 Akron Road, between Gasport and Carrasco. ALS recommended.[44][45]

92-Year-Old Down at 3226 Merchant Road, Warsaw — Lift Assist

At 22:44, Wyoming County Fire sent Warsaw Ambulance to 3226 Merchant Road between Route 28 and Keeney Road — 92-year-old female fallen, needs lifting.[51][52]

28-Year-Old Passes Out Outside the Ukrainian Center, Buffalo

At 15:59, BFD Ch1 took an EMS call for a 28-year-old male who passed out outside the Ukrainian center and credit union.[53]

Buffalo Fire, Cordova 234 — Commercial Line, Signal 2

At 16:05, BFD Ch1 dispatched a Signal Level 2 response on a commercial line at 234 Cordova; checked, set off by cooking, back in service.[54][55]

Other Calls of Note

16:50 — East Amherst residential fire-alarm activation; no fire found.[56]

23:10 — Amherst PD checks a male reported laying in the grass at 215 John Glenn Drive, near the parking-lot entrance — described as a black male in gray sweatpants and a medical mask, apparently lying down after getting off the bus.[57][58]

23:17 — Amherst PD called to 89 Marine Drive for kids banging on the front door; complainant reports the incident is “something involving the neighborhood kids” whose parents have been called and are “harassing her over the phone.”[59][60]

00:41 — Apartment 244 fire alarm at an Amherst high-rise; cause: burnt food in the apartment, alarm reset.[61]

00:59 — Amherst Fire investigates a complaint at Wilcox Road and Tonawanda Creek Road.[62]

19:25 — Welfare check, Amherst PD, subject in a red shirt and pajama pants.[63]

15:21 — Wyoming County, Southern Haskell, eight-year-old male fallen, lift assist only.[64]

16:33 — Wyoming County SO: “We got a guy trying to avoid us right now, but we’ll be there as soon as we can.”[65]
