Panini Press Pulls the Plug on Tim Hortons[7][8][9][10]

Commercial fire alarm at 1870 Maple Road rouses Sheridan engines before dawn — the culprit is a sandwich grill.

At 3:57 a.m. Amherst Fire dispatched on a commercial fire-alarm activation at the Tim Hortons at 1870 Maple Road.[7] Two minutes later the alarm company called back with an update: smoke from the panini press inside the store.[8] Sheridan’s S-92 engine was already rolling. By the time crews arrived they confirmed the source as the panini press and reported “no ventilation needed”[9]; the panel had reset prior to arrival and the unit was returned to service shortly after four.[10] No injuries, no damage, no breakfast sandwiches lost.

Lobby Fall at the Millersport Marriott[1][2]

EMS forced to the front door for a female down inside 1340 Millersport just after 1 a.m.

At 1:17 a.m. Amherst Fire toned out Eggertsville Squad 2 for an EMS run to the Marriott at 1340 Millersport Highway.[1] An Amherst PD officer relayed less than a minute later that crews would be making entry “in the front door in the lobby for a female”[2] — consistent with a guest down inside the hotel atrium. No follow-up traffic suggesting transport priority was overheard on the channel.

Burbank Walker Mistaken for Car Prowler[17][18][19]

Suspicious-person call clears in under eight minutes when the “subject in plaid” turns out to be a neighbor on a sunrise stroll.

At 6:17 a.m. Amherst PD took a suspicious-person complaint reporting a man on foot “in the street looking at cars, jeans and a plaid jacket,” last seen walking through a residential block.[17] Eight minutes later, the responding officer found him at Main and Burbank, matching the description exactly — a Burbank Avenue resident out for a walk.[18][19] Closed without incident.

Bathroom Fall on Red Maple Court[3][4][5][6]

Ellicott Creek EMS toned to 52 Red Maple at 1:51 a.m. for an elderly male down behind a locked door; entry guidance issued on the air.

Amherst Fire dispatched Ellicott Creek EMS-52 to 52 Red Maple Court for a 68-year-old male found injured in the bathroom.[3][4][5] Two minutes after the tones, an Amherst PD supervisor delivered an instructional note over dispatch — from now on, with a fall inside a bathroom and undetermined injuries, crews may need to force the bathroom door open to reach the patient.[6] Standard EMS call, but the on-air coaching moment is worth flagging for the playbook.

Pre-Dawn Sleeper at Sheridan Storefront[11][12][13][14]

Amherst PD called to 3310 Triton Drive at 4:40 a.m. for a male sleeping in front of a store; nothing found on arrival.

Dispatch sent units to 3310 Triton Drive on a suspicious-person complaint — report of a male sleeping in front of the store, described as a black male in a tan jacket and black pants.[11][12][13] The first officer on scene reported “nothing showing outside, no music heard,” cleared the call, and went back into service.[14]

Neighbor Calls In Yelling Match[15][16]

Amherst PD takes a possibly-physical domestic at 6:10 a.m. on a neighbor’s relayed report.

A caller reported hearing a male and female yelling at each other through the wall, with the female at one point yelling “get his hands off her, possibly physical,” per dispatch.[15][16] Units responded; no further traffic on the channel before the window closed at 07:00.

“I Didn’t Know I Had Her”[43][44]

Grand Island Central School District dispatch, 6:44 a.m. — a forgotten student, immediately un-forgotten.

From GI Central, an exchange between dispatch and a bus driver: “I just want to make sure you don’t forget Jasmine.”[43] The reply, two seconds later: “Forget her, I didn’t know I had her.”[44] The radio offered no follow-up on Jasmine’s onward journey, but the implied trajectory is encouraging.

SGCSD Wiper Strip Mayday[45][46]

5:49 a.m., bus radio: a rubber seal won’t stop flapping into the windshield, and Mark will fix anything for anybody.

A Springville-Griffith Institute bus driver got on the air to report “rubber string seal” coming down the middle of the windshield and “interfering with my wiper plate.”[45] Request: please remove it. Dispatch’s reply: “Anything for you, Mark.”[46] A small early-morning service of love.

“Hey Rick — Something’s Wrong With This Bus”[47][48]

5:27 a.m. at the airport shuttle pad: a TPS BNIA driver pulls the plug and asks Rick to slide up.

One TPS BNIA Shuttle driver to another: “Hey Rick? — Yeah, what’s up? — Can you move up? I’m going to park this thing. There’s something wrong with this bus.”[47][48] A long sigh of “Oh, boy” followed. Buffalo Niagara’s 5:30 a.m. crowd was not informed.

Wireless Mic Captures Stage-Door Goodbye[49][50]

A roving 169.445 MHz wireless picked up two snippets of someone wrapping up a gig at 6:30 a.m. on a Wednesday.

Two transmissions, nine seconds apart: “Thanks, everybody.”[49] Then: “Hey, Biggs, you’re good.”[50] No agency, no context, no idea who Biggs is or where he’s standing. The scanner’s most reliable mystery slot.

BNIA Vans Dispatcher Tells Driver to Quit Being Snotty[51]

5:22 a.m. on Simulcast — a brief flash of airport-shuttle workplace dynamics.

“Okay, don’t get snotty,” one voice said. “I’m just saying I have people in the county waiting, and I know you are in departure for a while.”[51] The driver promised to make it back in four and a half minutes.

Ward Road Facility Evacuates on Fire Alarm[25][26][27]

At 4:56 a.m. Niagara County Fire Control toned St. Johnsburg and Frontier for an alarm activation at 7332 Ward Road in Wheatfield, originally received as a general fire alarm from the alarm company.[25][26] A follow-up call from the facility reported smoke in the building with occupants evacuating.[27] Equipment was requested in tandem; no further escalation was overheard on the channel before sunrise.

BFD Level 2 Commercial Alarm on Genesee Street[20][21]

Buffalo Fire dispatched a Level 2 response at 2:20 a.m. to 392 Genesee Street on a commercial alarm activation at “the Evergreen North.”[20][21] Summary signal called the response; no working-fire confirmation reached the dispatch channel during the window.

EMS Call at the Wyndham Garden, Downtown[22][23][24]

At 2:30 a.m. BFD Ch.1 dispatched EMS Unit 125 to the Wyndham Garden Hotel, room 206, between North Oak and Michigan, for a female with difficulty breathing.[22][23][24] Routine medical call; no follow-up audible.

Thruway Caller: Chevy Kicked Up a Rock and Kept Going[28][29]

NYSTA Ch 4 took a complaint just before 6:38 a.m.: a vehicle “passed the vehicle, kicked up a rock, and cracked the caller’s windshield”; the caller tried to flag down the Chevy, which slowed but did not stop and continued southbound.[28][29] Troopers acknowledged; outcome not aired before window close.
