Ski-Mask Bandit Bolts From Brockmore Driveway, Williamsville Perimeter Sweeps Empty

A male in a ski mask rifled a vehicle in a residential driveway, then disappeared toward Ramblin' Road. The witness wouldn't talk.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Friday, an Amherst PD unit reported the live break-in: a masked man entered a vehicle parked in the driveway at 215 Brockmore, took items, and fled on foot toward Rambling Road[1]. Cars were posted at New Road and Rambling and at the Crosswind/Rambling cut-through[2]. By 11:53 the perimeter was broken down with no suspect: "We got nothing. There's no camera. Somebody saw it who is unwilling to speak to me right now," the responding officer told dispatch[3]. Status: open / no arrest at time of cutoff.

Group-Home Crisis on Harlem Road: Resident Threatens to Kill Himself — And Staff

Late afternoon mental-hygiene call escalated quickly at 4799 Harlem Road.

At 3:41 p.m. Friday, Amherst PD was sent to the group home at 4799 Harlem Road after a party there told staff "he wants to kill himself and kill the staff"[4]. The transmission did not include a follow-up disposition on the air during the listening window; the situation appears to have been handled quietly inside the building based on the absence of escalation chatter.

Standoff at 5877 Main: Subject Refuses to Leave Home, Call Reclassified as Domestic

Order-of-protection question added another layer to a slow-burn evening incident in the Williamsville/Snyder corridor.

At 8:24 p.m., an Amherst officer asked dispatch to change the call address to 5877 Main Street and reclassify the incident as a domestic, after a subject identified on the air as a "president there" refused to leave the home[5]. Within minutes the cover unit was asking dispatch to look up active orders of protection at the address; the complainant said one had been approved in court "sometime this week"[6]. Records came back negative for both parties on file[7]; the call was held open for patrol follow-up.

Country Parkway Playground Beating Sends Boy to ER With Bleeding Face

A 16-year-old suspect described only as "Middle Eastern male, no clothing description" left on foot.

At 5:57 p.m. an Amherst officer responded to a harassment call at 35 Hollybrook Country Parkway School — "apparently he was beat up by some other kids that were on the playground," the unit told dispatch[8]. About ten minutes later, a Country Parkway location update came back: "Mom's here with our victim, and she's requesting an ambulance for some facial bleeding, possible broken nose"[9]. Suspect last seen on foot on Country Parkway. Tier-2 promotion: under-18 victim with injury.

MVA at Cadillac Fitness: 86-Year-Old's Face Bloodied in Worley Drive Car-vs-Truck

Amherst Fire Dispatch ran a typical end-of-shift evening collision at the South Union Road plaza.

At 4:36 p.m. Amherst Fire Dispatch toned out a motor-vehicle accident in front of 770 Worley Drive at Cadillac Fitness, near Churchcroft Lane and South Union Road — described as a car versus a truck[10]. Two minutes later the unit on scene called for TCA "for minor bleeding of an 86-year-old male in the face"[11]. The driver of the Chevy was transported to Suburban; the UPS truck involved was parked on the shoulder pending a private mechanic[12].

Williamsville View Manor Has a Visitor: Barefoot Woman in Tan Jacket, Nowhere to Go

Employee called Amherst PD just after 11 p.m. about a stranger camped in the parking lot since 7.

At 11:11 p.m. an Amherst officer relayed the complaint from Williamsville View Manor: an employee reported a woman who'd visited someone at the facility had been in the parking lot since 7 p.m. with "currently nowhere to go — tan jacket, no shoes"[13]. A cover unit checked on her. No arrest, no transport on the air; presumably resolved quietly.

Brief

UB North loud-party at 195 Sweet Home, Room 300

11:52 p.m. — Amherst dispatch sent units to the Sweet Home corridor for a disturbance/loud party, frank-tier music coming from a single suite at the on-campus station[14]. "Sounds like it's going to break up out there as well," the responding officer told dispatch[15].

Brief

Walmart wants you to take him to detox

6:29 p.m. — Amherst PD asked for an ambulance at the Walmart parking lot for a 40-year-old male in a red hooded shirt: "He wants to go to detox and there is an ambulance that's responding. Just make sure he is all set"[16].

Brief

Akron EMS lift assist, 27 Shepherd Avenue, 97-year-old female

1:09 a.m. — cold-response call to a 97-year-old in the Village of Akron requesting a lift assist; routine but worth noting given the age[17].

Brief

Stranger-in-the-driveway at the Tonawanda border

3:51 a.m. — Amherst was asked to assist Tonawanda PD by checking 524 Grover Cleveland Highway for Edward Van Delden, named as a burglary suspect with a flagged warning for "weapons and running"[18]. Mom answered the door and said her son wasn't home but might be driving her Equinox[19]; the description put on the air — "white male, 5-foot-2, 135 pounds, tattoos, beard, reddish-brown hair, wearing all black this evening"[20] — would later be relayed by dispatch to a search unit who never made contact.

The Best Driving Stop in Amherst History: "Advised Him to Be a Better Driver. He Agreed."

Amherst PD turned a vehicle complaint into a four-line zen koan and was clear in under nine seconds.

At 5:10 p.m., an Amherst PD officer summarized an entire on-foot follow-up to a vehicle complaint as a single, perfect dispatch transmission —

Stopped out at the registered owner's address. Had a word with him. Advised him to be a better driver. He agreed. I'll be clear.[21]

Dispatch's response: "Sounds fun." Case closed.

Two Boys, Backpacks, A Highway Shoulder — And Then They Were Gone

A passerby called the Thruway Authority. Trooper Ch. 4 read the description like a missing-poster lede.

4:22 p.m., NYSTA Channel 4 dispatch: a passerby reported two boys playing on the right shoulder of the highway. "This one was wearing a dark-colored shirt, long pants, and a book bag… no further information"[22]. Troopers ran the section. Whether they were caught or wandered home is anyone's guess.

Niagara Region Embassy Shuttle Driver Reaches the End of His Shift

A late-night transmission on Embassy Control gave us the line of the night.

At 10:47 p.m., over the Embassy Suites shuttle dispatch channel, a single weary transmission floated out: "Go ahead and kill me."[23] Context never followed. We choose to believe it was the dispatcher.

Anxiety, Marijuana, Villas West: An EMS Run For The Modern Age

A 12:57 a.m. Twin City call straight from the era.

"7, Twin Cities responding to 3003 Villas West for the 20-year-old male with anxiety from smoking marijuana"[24]. Five minutes later: "AFP is still on the phone with this subject, and he has made 1023 [suicide-related] threats over the phone"[25]. Two units sent. The night turned more serious from there, but the kickoff line earns its place.

FRS-15 Carries the Audio of a Bradford, PA Stuffed-Pepper Recipe Across Western New York

Three hours of ham-radio chatter on a low-power family-radio channel turned into a regional foodie broadcast.

For most of the 5 p.m. hour, FRS Channel 15 was a single sustained conversation between two ham-radio hobbyists comparing rigs, antennas, and their weekend grilling plans. The peak: a meticulous walk-through of stuffed-pepper preparation — "celery and onions and green peppers and fresh garlic and I had some dill seasoning in there and some Tabasco and of course some red pepper and salt and black pepper… put my finger and wallowed it out and took the stuffing and packed it in there… in the oven for three or four minutes — dude, them people were slapping their…"[26]. The same operator had also discovered, via a check-in from Bob Utica, that snowflakes had fallen overnight.[27] Sign-off was "Doggies, burgers, you know, simple"[28].

4:42 p.m., BFD Ch.1 Disp at a Delaware-area nursing home: "We found the patients that were stuck. They're out of the elevator. We can't get these doors open. We might want to shut it down. It might be malfunctioning. Nobody's stuck inside currently"[31]. The patients are free; the elevator is not.

"Roger, Keep On Bailing, Saving Grace"

A BFD Ch.1 dispatcher delivered the most accidentally pastoral transmission of the week.

5:28 p.m., a Buffalo Fire Ch.1 dispatcher signed off a transmission with five unrelated words that Whisper transcribed perfectly: "Roger, keep on bailing, saving grace."[32] Whether the audio actually said "Saint Grace" or "Sandy Grace," nobody knows. The hymnal stays.

"There's Your Coffee Box on the Table for You, Rebecca"

TPS BNIA Shuttle dispatch is the warmest channel on the trunked system.

8:15 p.m., the TPS Buffalo Niagara airport shuttle channel: "There's your coffee box on the table for you, Rebecca"[33]. Five minutes earlier the same dispatcher had been "interviewing Rob Kaskowski right now"[34]. We have no idea what either of these means. We hope Rebecca enjoyed the coffee.
